Big Pine Volcanic Field
Owens Valley, California.
Traveling north up Owens Valley , just south of Big Pine you encounter a volcanic field. There are several cones, some cinder cones and Crater Mountain which seemed to be a bit more substantial, almost a compsite volcano, I would have liked to explore Crater Mountain a little, but my time was too limited and I was not sure if it was publically accessible.

I did follow some of the back roads off in the direction of a couple small cinder cones and Red Mountain a beautiful, slightly larger cinder cone.
